Advocating for Women in the Legal Profession
The Meeting the Challenge program is designed to bring together key leaders and stakeholders to develop and share strategies to make the NAWL Challenge a reality. Issued in February 2016, the NAWL One-Third by 2020 Challenge urges the legal profession to increase the percentage of women attorneys to one-third by 2020 – including to one-third of general counsels of the Fortune 1000, one-third of law school deans, one-third of entering partner equity classes, one-third of entering law firm lateral classes – and to increase by a third the number of minority attorneys.
Meeting the Challenge is a forum for law firms, corporations, government, nonprofits, and other stakeholders to share best practices, learn from thought leaders, and forge meaningful and lasting connections. Distinguished practitioners, academics, consultants, and leaders will gather for a candid discussion and programming focused on making women’s initiatives effective and impactful. In addition to programming focused on institutional success, there will be programming focused on strategies for women to advance and flourish in their existing environments.
